Testicle Removal on Hold for Young Ladyboys
Thailand’s Public Health Ministry has moved to temporarily ban clinics and hospitals from performing testicle removal surgery on ladyboys under the age of eighteen. Homosexual organizations have backed the move over health concerns that removal of the testes, a step toward complete sex change, poses a health danger if performed on very young ladyboys. ”Despite having their parents’ consent for the surgery, panel members still unanimously agreed that such an operation on young lady boys could cause severe damage to their health, both physically and mentally,” according to Pipat Yingseree, chairman of the ministerial committee for clinics and hospitals. The Medical Council of Thailand warned of health problems associated with the procedure in a statement last week. Doctors face revocation of their medical licenses if they are found to have performed the surgery on ladyboys younger than eighteen without parental consent.
