Thai New Year (Songkran) in Chiang Mai Thailand 2008
Thai New Year (Songkran) is almost here again. It will be celebrated from April 13 through 15. Many shops all over the country are gearing up with new high tech devices for delivering jets of water on unsuspecting and not so unsuspecting victims. Squirt gun technology has greatly advanced in recent years with a variety of styles, sizes and brightly colored plastics. Some water weapons boast large tanks and hand-pumped compression systems to increase range and volume of delivered water. Also expect to see entire pickup trucks loaded with screaming inebriated revelers dispensing bucketfuls of wetness from large overflowing vats.
In Chiang Mai, Thailand, home of the most beautiful women in the world. The moat in Chiang Mai has been undergoing a major refurbishing project and is filled to the brim to make ready for kids who want to jump in and cool off. Once again, young high school and college aged girls are advised to dress in modest garb avoiding skimpy outfits with spaghetti straps, halter tops or tiny tight fitting hot pants (reasonably priced and available at most neighborhood shopping malls) that reveal their well formed buttocks and young bouncing breasts. They are also advised to avoid being sprayed with water too often as this can result in the noted “wet T-shirt affect.”
In Bangkok, the BTS Skytrain will be allowing senior citizens 60 years or older to ride as much as they like free of charge April 13-16. All they need is an identification card to prove their age. BTS is hoping to make it easier for families to spend time together and to save on fuel consumption and pollution.
