Bangladesh Airliner Hijacked, Diverted to Don Mueng Airport
An aircraft operated by Biman Bangladesh Airlines made an emergency landing at Don Mueng airport today after being hijacked by a lone passenger wielding a knife. The man allegedly attacked other passengers with the knife. The passenger in question is reported to be a native of Malaysia. He is currently in custody of Thai authorities, who are questioning him. He is reported to be suffering from mental illness. The pilots of the aircraft originally requested permission to land a Suvarnabhumi airport, but the Thai authorities instead instructed the plane to land at Don Mueng airport.

Chana U-sathaporn, Airports of Thailand President gave a television interview where details of the situation were spelled out according to his latest information. Earlier reports gave the indication that an altercation between cabin crew and several passengers had caused the emergency landing.
The plane was carrying 40-50 passengers and was originally on route from Malaysia to Bangladesh.
