Thai Real Estate | Lousy Houses No.1 Consumer Complaint in Thailand
The Office of Consumer Protection Board (OCPB) has announced that consumer complaints regarding housing estate developments make up the largest percentile of complaints in relation to other sectors.
Substandard foundations, causing new homes to sink and crack, problems relating to contracts, title transfers, broken promises by developers and refusal to refund deposits and down payments to buyers whose loan applications were rejected.
Broken promises tended to include facilities such as meeting rooms and swimming pools that were advertised as being part of the development. Many homebuyers were unable to take ownership of the homes they had paid for because the developers had mortgaged the land or were never the real owner of the land to begin with.
Fitness clubs, mobile phone operators, child and elderly care facilities were also high on the complaints list.
