Thai Rice at Twice the Price
Rice is on the mind of Prime Minister Samak. He is asking Thais to eat less so that rice farmers can sell their rice at record prices to other countries. White rice, which is almost completely devoid of any nutrients, is the most popular food in the entire world.
The Prime Minister in his weekly address pointed out that it would be advantageous to have more rice available for export. Rice is currently double its usual price. If Thais eat less rice, and more is exported, the Thai economy will continue to improve according to Mr. Samak. It is unknown if Thai consumers will heed his request.
In other rice news, no new information has surfaced regarding the 200,000 tons of rice missing from Thai government stockpiles.
