Queen Elizabeth, Bill Gates and Hollywood donate to Burma Cyclone Victims, but the U.N. says government donations are short of needed aid in Burma for relief victims.

Queen Elizabeth II and Harry Potter author Rowling both contributed an ‘undisclosed sum’ to Myanmar relief. In the USA, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has donated $3 billion for relief efforts.

The UN said it has only received just over 50% of the money it needs for cyclone relief in Burma, over 100 million short of the goal of $201.6 million needed, $51 million in pledges has not yet been delivered, the U.N. said many governments purposely are delaying aid over worries that the Militant Junta’s restrictions on foreign aid workers entering Burma. A Christian non-Profit group World Vision has raised over $19 million. The Red Cross says it has raised 96 percent of the $50.8 million it currently needed Celebrities have also played a part in raising money.

Hollywood Actors Don Cheadle, George Clooney, Matt Damon and Brad Pitt, producer Jerry Weintraub and human rights lawyer David Pressman have given $250,000.

It is estimates that more than 1,000,000 Burmese survivors in the delta, still need aid. The May 2nd cyclone killed 80,000+ people and over 60,000 still missing.
