Ayutthaya, Thailand: Drug Enforcement Agents ‘DEA’ in Thailand burn US$310,000,000 of seized illicit illegal narcotic drugs collected this year marking today, the UN anti-drugs day. The drugs were set on fire and destroyed.
The police personnel involved experienced the residual effects from the burning bonfire of drugs. In developed countries special incinerators are used to protect technicians and the environment from contamination, the drugs incinerated included 2.2 kilos of cocaine, 32,000,000 tablets of methamphetamines or “yaba,” 1.1 tons of heroin and 7.2 kilos of ecstasy.
Thailand’s Health Minister Chiya Sasomsub said. “The Thai government has a strong determination to solve the drugs problem. No Thai family wants their children to get involved in drugs, as drugs can damage people’s brains,” He also estimated that there are about 200,000 drug users in the Thai kingdom.
Thai Health Minister Chiya Sasomsub also said there would be no extra-judicial killings, which civil-rights groups say haunted Thaksin’s 2003 War on Drugs, but the Thai Health minister also stated that; “If anyone does not want to die, don’t walk this road.”
