Thailand’s One-Two-Go Airlines Grounded
Thailand’s Civil Aviation Department has grounded One-Two-Go for 30 days due to substandard operations. The Civil Aviation Department also revoked the license of 7 of the One-Two-Go pilots and suspended 2 more pilots licenses. The suspension of the One-Two-Go’s Air Operator Certificate is effective today.
Troubled One-Two-Go has been involved with a number of disputes since one of its planes crashed in Phuket, Thailand Flight OG269, a MD-82 flying from Bangkok to Phuket crashed on the runway in Pkuket on 16 September 2007 while landing at Phuket International Airport, killing 89 people and injuring 41. One-Two-Go’s crash is Thailand’s deadliest since December 1998 when 101 people were killed when a Thai Airways plane crashed while landing in heavy rain in Surat Thani.
Thailand’s Domestic One-Two-Go Airlines is owned by Orient-Thai. The airline’s first flights were in 2003. The Discount airliner offered flights from Bangkok to Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Hat Yai, Nakhomn Si Thammarat, Phuket and Surat Thani. One-Two-Go Airlines had over 200 flights per week with a monthly passenger capacity of over 100,000.
