2,100 carat Diamond Stolen in Bangkok, Thailand
Bangkok, Thailand: “A man suddenly ran away with the diamond just as we were discussing a purchase deal,” Rinlapas said. “Then he jumped on a waiting motorcycle and sped away. I thought they were going to buy the diamonds, they seemed real.”
The man contacted her on Wednesday in Bangkok to say their boss was interested in the diamonds. The Diamond Thief also showed her a bank account that had more than Bt100 million.

Police suspect the Bangkok Diamond heist is work of insider. A team of con-men ran off with a diamond worth 315 million baht, The Thief introduced himself as aides to a Thai politician. The 2,100 carat diamond from Africa weighs 420 grams. “We will check recordings in the closed-circuit TV systems both at Rinlapas’ place and nearby buildings,” Bangkok , Thailand Police Colonel Charoen Sisasalak said. “We will also question all witnesses.” Charoen suspects the men must have had inside information.
The diamond’s Thai owner, Chakraphan Pramuansuk, was also at scene of crime. Chakraphan bought the two diamonds from Africa 15 years ago for 500,000 baht.
