Thailand’s Supreme Court accepts new corruption criminal case against Thaksin

The Thai Supreme Court decided to open the lottery case to go ahead for September 26 trial date. The Assets Scrutiny Committee ‘ACS’ found former Thai prime minister Thaksin and his cabinet had violated the Government Lottery Office Act.

The new state lottery corruption criminal case will most likely force 3 cabinet ministers to resign, Finance Minister Surapong Suebwonglee, Labour Minister Uraiwan Thienthong and Deputy Transport Minister Anurak Jureemart.

Prime Minister Samak has previously lost 3 cabinet ministers to Thailand’s court case rulings. Former minister to the prime minister Jakrapob Penkair resigned in June to face lese-majeste charges, in July health minister Chaiya Sasomsap was found guilty of asset concealment and forced to resign as foreign minister.

Noppadon Pattama resigned after being accused of breaching the constitution. Noppadon was replaced by Tej Bunnag, a veteran diplomatic ambassador to several countries.
