New case against Thaksin
On Wednesday the Supreme Court’s opened a new case against ousted premier Thaksin Shinawatra. The Supreme Court Case against Thaksin involves charges that Thaksin abused power by giving a government loan to Burma to benefit Thaksin’s Shin Corp Telecom company.
The first day of the trial will be September 16th, The Supreme Court will determine if Thaksin abused his position as Prime Minister. Thaksin ordered government-owned EXIM Bank to give a loan of 1 billion baht to Burma’s military in 2004 to develop its mobile telecom infrastructure, directly benefiting his Telecom, Shin Corp, owned by the Thaksin and family.
Monday, the Supreme Court also named Thaksin and one of 47 in a case of malfeasance regarding the government lottery.
The Assets Examination Committee ‘AEC’ has pressed several charges against Thaksin, the former Prime Minister.
