Thaksin’s wife found guilty, Sentenced to 3 years Prison on Tax Evasion
Thailand’s Criminal Court sentenced Thaksin’s wife to 3 years in Jail. Thaksin’s wife, Khunying Potjaman Shinawatra found guilty today on tax evasion case. Her secretary Karnchanapa Honghern received a 2 year jail sentence for tax evasion, for not paying tax on shares worth 738 million baht in Shinawatra Computer and Communication. Thaksin’s wife and other guilty parties were released on 5 million Baht bail per person. The tax evasion case came before the Criminal Court on March 26 last year. The indictment followed an investigation by the Assets Scrutiny Committee (ASC) Over 50 Thai witnesses testified during the tax evasion case, including Khunying Potjaman and Mr Bannapot who said the shares were a gift.
