Thaksin’s defamation lawsuit rejected
Thailand’s Appeals Court upheld a lower court’s decision to reject the defamation lawsuit filed by Thaksin against previous leader of the Matchimathipataya party Prachai Leophairatana, and publisher of The Thai Post daily. Prachai had made a comment in The Thai Post newspaper Thaksin had rigged the December election.
The Appeals Court said Thaksin asked that the hearings be delayed without a proper reason. Taksin claimed that during the course of the Thai courts hearings that he had back pain and could not be present.
Thaksin, living in exile in UK also failed to ask the Criminal Court to summon a witnesses to testify against the defendants.
