Thailand is up from 84th to 80th out of 180 countries, in a new study by Transparency International.
Thailand’s upgraded ranking is due to corruption charges against Thai politicians following 2006 coup that ousted the Thaksin government. In 2006 Thailand was 63rd, and 59th in 2005. In Asia, Thailand is ranked 10th.
Thailand corruption score should improve next year as more corruption cases against Thailand’s national politicians should be determined later this year.
