Thai Police arrest PAD anti-government protester
Thai Police arrested PAD anti-government protest leader Chaiwat Sinsuwongse at a highway toll booth in Bangkok.
Thai Police have not entered The Government House to arrest other PAD members. The PAD has said they will not leave until allies of ousted Prime Minister Thaksin are no longer in power.
Police issued arrest warrants in August for 9 PAD leaders on charges of treason, conspiracy, illegal assembly and refusing orders to disperse. Treason, carries a maximum penalty of death or life imprisonment.
PAD leader Suriyasai Katasila said that the group will not retreat. “We have sent a lawyer to see him,” Suriyasai said. “We will decide among the alliance leaders what to do next but whatever happens, we will continue to fight against Thaksin’s regime.”
