Abhisit to Visit Red-Shirt Area of Chiang Mai
In keeping with his role as Prime Minister, Abhisit Vejjajiva maintained on Saturday afternoon that he will take a trip to the northern province of Chiang Mai to scrutinize the realization of the Thai Khem Kaeng (Strong Thailand) system even though he is aware that the red-shirts would be out in force to demonstrate against his visit.

The P.M. said that the excursion is intended as a performance of Prime Minister duties is not aimed at creating greater divisions in Thai society. The red-shirt masses can calmly come together to demonstrate against him and the current government but must behave lawfully. He informs the red-shirts that they should not hinder him form meeting local people discuss government business.
