Former Aide of Former Army Chief Formally Wanted by Law
Thailand’s former army chief, Chettha Thanajaro, Friday, sought to distance himself from his one time associate Panya Srihera who is a suspect in the attempted assassination of Sondhi Limthongkul, a major leader of the People’s Alliance for Democracy or PAD which has supported the military coup and disruptive activities such as closing Thailand’s airports to crush out elected democracy for the people of Thailand.
“Mr Sondhi knows me well. It’s just a political game,” Gen Chettha said on Friday.
Police are continuing to search for the two wanted suspects, Sgt Maj Panya, who is assigned to the Special Warfare Unit in Lop Buri, and Worawut Mungsanti, an officer for the Narcotics Suppression Bureau.
Both men face Arrest warrants and charges of premeditated murder as well as attempted murder, illegal possession of weapons of war, possessing unlicensed firearms and and aan additional charge of illegal assembly.
Police believe the two are still in hiding in Thailand.
