Don Muang Airport to be Home of New Aviation Related Projects
Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva held a meeting of the Council of Economic Ministers, and asked the Office of the National Economic and Social Development Board (NESDB) to devise an improvement plan for Dong Mueang airport within the next 90 days, according to a source at Government House.
The council had already this morning mulled over a arrangement of space at Don Mueang airport for several speculation projects to produce additional revenue for Airports of Thailand (AoT). The NESDB was consigned to prepare plans for the development for stuy by the economic ministers.
The six projects all relate to aviation with focus on flight traing, maintenance, and even a museum of aviation.
More than 45 companies have shown interest in investing in the six projects, Serirat Prasutanont, current acting president of the AoT, said.
Don Mueang airport produces monthly returns of about 45 million baht. The new projects are hoped to increase that amount.
