Former Army Chief Speaks Out About Thaksin Petition
A cousin and Former army chief of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra, Gen Chaisit Shinawatra on Saturday denounced government attempts to hinder Thaksin partisans from seeking royal pardon for Thaksin
He stressed that the hindrance means that the state was trying to thwart the people from having good relationship with the King.
“The government’s allegation that a number of people were misled to sign their names in support of the petition was groundless in my point of view. It is not possible that the five million people were cheated to sing their names in the same time”, Gen Chaisit said according to local publications.
The former army chief further went on to say that members of the Shinawatra family feared to join the petition signing because their rivals might take the opportunity to harass them, for political gain.
