Thai Airways Delays A380 Purchase
Thailand’s state airline, Thai Airways International (THAI) has agreed with Airbus, the European aircraft builder to setback the delivery of its six A380 superjumbo airliners by approximately two years.

Current THAI acting president Narongsak Sangapong in conjunction with Airbus executive vice-president Kiran Rao corroborated that an agreement which helps THAI avoid contractual complications arising from the current economic crisis affecting the US$1.8-billion deal from going into default. The Thai national carrier previously had contemplated cancelling the order placed back in 2004 or changing the order to the smaller A350- 1000 XWB jets that Airbus is now in the process of developing.
THAI supervisory personnel s were worryed that the giant jets were too expensive. Hopeful economic signs have caused them to change their minds again and only delay the purchase until the airline business improves.
