Online Lottery Closer to Approval
Thailand’s Council of State has given an opinion that the process of the two- and three-digit online lottery is legitimate, council secretary-general Pornthip Jala stated on Wednesday.
The Thai Government Lottery Office (GLO) had requested the council for an estimation of whether the sale of lottery tickets from an electronic online machine would be allowable under Thai law.
“The Council of State has advised that the issuing of online lottery tickets is not against the law, and that the GLO can immediately proceed with the business,” Ms Pornthip is reported to have said.
a survey of public opinion by The GLO will be conducted on the social changes expected as a result of the two- and three-digit online lottery before a final decision is made, according to Sathit Limpongphan, secretary for finance and chairman of the GLO.
If the majority of people polled have no objection to the online lottery, the GLO would go ahead. The lottery still needs cabinet approval.
