Puea Thai to Run Younger Brother of Party Leader
The younger brother of Puea Thai party leader Yongyuth, Sompol Wichaidit, registered on Friday in Muang district of Surat Thani province to be a candidate in the constituency 1 by-election, under the opposition party banner.
The winner of the election will replace Deputy Prime Minister and Democrat party secretary-general Suthep Thuagsuban, who was forced to resign his constituency 1 House seat after the Election Commission, concluded he was in violation for holding shares in business ventures proscribed by the charter to holders of elected offices.
Mr Sompol was accompanied by Puea Thai dignitaries Mr Yongyuth, as well as Yaowaret Shinawatra, younger sister of former Prime Minister Thaksin, and also the party spokesman Prompong Nopparit. The Puea Thai candidate will run against Mr Suthep’s brother, Thani Thaugsuban,
