Petition Time for Thaksin in BKK
Bangkok and Thai National Police are prepared to protect order in the capital when Thaksin Shinawatra backers file a petition at the Royal Household Bureau requesting a pardon and rivals gather at the close by Supreme Court on Monday.
National police chief Wichien Pojphosri has said he had conversed about a security arrangements with the Bangkok police, the 1st Army, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration as well as the Royal Household Bureau.
He stated that a representative of the Royal Household Bureau will remain waiting at the Wiset Chaisri gate of the Grand Palace, the site of the bureau, and red shirt supporters will not be permitted through the gate to get to the bureau.
Pol Gen Wichien has asked activists to maintain order and cautioned them not to come too near too the Grand Palace in large numbers.
Police will allow red shirt demonstrators to come near the Grand Palace but will form a line separating them from blue shirt demonstrators who plan to show up at the nearby Supreme Court building.
Bangkok police Chief Pol Lt Gen Worapong Chiewpreecha has requested the armed forces to have troops on standby in case Bangkok police request their backing on Monday.
