Thai Bank Issues Loans for Bio-Fuel
The Thai Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) has arranged to provide 30 billion baht loans to farmers who will grow fuel plants from which biodiesel and alcohol can be made as alternative energy this year, Ennoo Suesuwan, BAAC acting vice president, said on Friday.
He spoke at a national conference on “Sustainable Trade and Development of Food, Energy and Environment” jointly arranged at Queen Sirikit National Convention Center by the bank with help from Ramadhibordee Hospital.
“As of the end of July, 209, BAAC had extended 8.62 billion baht in loans to clients”, Mr Ennoo stated, adding that the bank had offered 34.56 billion baht loans to farmers last year as well, exceeding the goal of 27 billion baht.
BAAC has created a policy to help enhance the development of food safety, as well as bio-fuel, by issuing loans to farmers in order to create business opportunities for Thai farmers.
