Suspects in Yesterday’s Bombing Arrested
Thai Police have arrested two people suspescted of being involved in the early afternoon car bomb attack on a busy restaurant in Narathiwat that resulted in the injury of 42 people on Tuesday.
Police believe the two men are underlings of Amran Ming, a chief of the Runda Kumpulan Kecil (RKK) separatist movement in southern Thailand.
Police issued an arrest warrant for Mr Amran earlier in the day for the same case.
A pick-up truck loaded with explosives blew up outside the Suan Kluay restaurant around 12.30pm Tuesday. The 42 victims are Buddhists, mostly government employees, and included a local district chief and a local doctor.
Mr Amran is already wanted on arrest warrants for killing a pregnant teacher in Rangae district on June 2, 2009, and also for a bombing in Yi-ngor district, according to police.
