Abhisit Speaks at Columbia
Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva maintains that his administration has increased confidence in Thai government from the global community, as demonstrated by the government’s unprejudiced attitude to the red-shirt and yellow-shirt political affiliations.
Mr Abhisit conveyed his thoughts in a speech called ‘Post-crisis Thailand: Building a New Democratic Society’ at Columbia University in New York on Saturday.

The Prime Minister said that the regime, after nine months since taking office, had obtained more assurance from other countries, and had made known to the Thai people that it was acting for all political groups, even those who were opposed to the government.

The prime minister said, “And by standing here, I believe the situation in the country is good enough and there is nothing to worry about.

“The government respects the rights of all people who gather in peace and abide by the law.”

He continued by adding that there were a number of signs demonstrating that the Thai economy had bottomed out and that investor assurance had begun to resurface.
