Internal Security Act to be Invoked for ASEAN Meeting
The Thai Prime Minister’s cabinet assembly today concurred to enforce Internal Security Act (ISA) in Cha Am and Hua Hin localities from Oct 12 to 27 to uphold law and order for the duration of the Asean meeting planned for Oct 23 to 25, Thawil Pliansri, secretary-general of the National Security Council, told reporters on Tuesday.
Procedures to guarantee the maximum level of safety for visiting leaders of member nations of the Association of Southeast Asian Nation (Asean) and delegates of the summit partners will be talked about during the subsequent meeting of the Internal Security Operations Command, Mr Thawil said.
The invocation of the act is hopefully to prevent the problems that occurred when red shirted followers of ousted Prime Minister Thaksin overran the ASEAN meeting in Pattaya last year.
