Boys Can’t be Girls When Graduating University
The Council of University Presidents of Thailand (CUPT) meeting on Monday has voted to disallow male-to-female transgendered University graduates to wear female dress when receiving their degrees.
The council chairman and Chulalongkorn University president Pirom Kamolratanakul said all 23 university presidents had agreed that graduates should wear normal uniforms and that there should be no change to the current regulations.
Representatives of the transgender community had requested education institutes to allow sex-change graduates to wear female attire at graduation ceremonies.
Prof Pirom said universities had not required their students to wear specific clothing in classrooms, but they must be atired properly when receiving their degrees.
