Thailand Denies Hostility Toward Cambodian Government
Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva says that Thailand has no plans to remove the Cambodian government or go to war with its next door neighbor.
Thailand’s government has rejected allegations it was planning to stage a coup against the Cambodian government as well as a war against Phnom Penh.
Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen last Thursday claimed to have seen a secret Thai government document which he said revealed that the Thai government hoped to mount a coup against Cambodia.
He claimed other Thai Government documents suggest that Thailand is preparing for war against Cambodia.
Mr Abhisit replies that his government had no plan to interfere in Cambodia’s or to use violent measures.
Thailand’s Deputy Prime Minister Suthep Thaugsuban has called the accusation “groundless” and suggested that former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra is spreading rumors.
