Thailand’s Help to Haiti is on the Way
Kasit told reporters that the Cabinet earlier had endorsed a US$100,000 grant to Haiti, and will also be sending 20,000 tonnes of rice to aid victims following estimations that two million people vitally need food aid.
Thailand’s ambassador to Mexico has made a presentation of the donation from Thailand to the Mexican government Thursday which is acting as a go-between to shift the necessities including foodstuff, medical supplies and basic tools such as flashlights, to earthquake stricken Haiti.
The Thai business ministry will also soon ship 20,000 tons of rice to Haiti, which costs less than conveying the grain via United Nations World Food Program which could cost US$10 million.
Kasit also added that three million baht has been contributed by Thai people through the ministry’s bank.
