Thai Airlines CEO Speaks of Immunization
Thai Airways International’s new leader wants to bring in what he calls an “immune system” into the organization, to stop interlopers receiving benefits.
Piyasvasti Amranand says he will call for staff to fight off what he calls the pressure of interfering politicians and avaricious management.
THAI would never live up to its slogan, Smooth as Silk, unless elected officials gave management a free hand as they endeavor to recuperate the airline’s former stature.
It was at one time one of the best airlines in the world, Mr Piyasvasti told reporters.
The Thai national flag carrier has been afflicted by political meddling, from the purchasing process to selections of top executives, many of whom lost their posts upon changes of government, he said.
Mr Piyasvasti himself came to THAI in October with strong assistance from the Democrat Party.
The Democrats run the Finance Ministry, which is the major shareholder in Thai , and the Bhumjaithai Party is accountable for the Transport Ministry, which supervises the airline.
