Teacher shot and Burned
A Thai school teacher was shot to death and his body set ablaze by an unknown number of attackers in Tambon Plong Hoi of Pattani’s Kapho district on Monday afternoon.
Police said Samrit Panthadet, 51, a teacher of Bango Yuebang School in Kapho was returning to his house on his motorbike when the assailants shot at him and killed him instantly on Kapho – Thung Yang Daeng road. The occurrence took place at about 4.30pm.
The gunmen then poured gasoline on him and set the dead body ablaze before escaping with the motorbike.
Islamic groups operating in the area have targeted school teachers for the last seven years.
