Thailand Vows to Ignore International Court
It is useless for Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Sen to request the International Court of Justice to help resolve the border disagreement around Preah Vihear between Phnom Penh and Thailand, Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva announced on Wednesday.
Mr Abhisit said the dispute cannot be solved in the International Court because it had already given a ruling on Preah Vihear temple in favor of Cambodia, and it had set the boundary on a map which Thailand can not accept.
The International Court of Justice ruled back in 1962 that the temple is owned by Cambodia.
Deaths have occurred in recent months including Cambodian villagers attacked by Thailand’s yellow-shirted PAD.
“Cambodia has reached the limits of its patience,” Hun Sen has been quoted as saying during a holiday in the border area.
“Cambodia wants to solve this territorial dispute by filing a complaint to the international court at The Hague,” he said.
He would also ask the United Nations to help solve the border issue.
