Thaksin Offspring Told to Buzz Off
The Thai Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions on Friday rebuffed a request filed by two children of former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra for a gag order on past members of the Assets Scrutiny Committee (ASC) before the court judgment in the 76 billion baht assets seizure case.
Thaksin’s son Panthongtae and daughter Pinthongta on Thursday presented the appeal to the court, saying that former members of the ASC, which handled the assets confiscation investigation, should not be permitted to give their legal views on the case before the verdict is conveyed because they could confound the public and affect the impartiality of the justice procedure.
