Blatantly Fraudulent Dowsing Rod Device Avoids Exposure
Scientific laboratory tests will not take place on the controversial GT200 “bomb detector” supposedly because of “confidentiality agreements” between the purchasers (suckers) and the makers (con artists) when they were bought, say members of a government panel assessing the device.
Pansak Siriruchatapong, director of the National Electronics and Computer Technology Centre, said: “The purchasers had an agreement with the traders that they would not reveal any information regarding the device.”
This would preclude any test on whether the devices actually do anything at all.
As a result, the only option left to the panel was to conduct completely unscientific “field testing”, he told the Bangkok Post Sunday.
Jehrrming Tohtayong, an associate of the national security group, said members had advanced the hope of holding scientific tests, but said they were concerned that such tests would violate the seller’s intellectual rights.
“Some scientists at our meetings proposed laboratory testing. Maybe it will be carried out in the future if we think it is still necessary,” added Mr Jehrrming.
The GT200 is of course a common dowsing rod not worth 10baht, much less the 1,000,000 or more baht paid for some of the more than 500 purchased, and incapable of detecting anything except credulity.
