GT200 Dowsing Device Fails
Following the results of the recent test outcome showing the poor accurateness of the notorious British-made GT200 “bomb detectors”, Thai security staff stationed in Narathiwat’s regional seat on Wednesday began using chopsticks seeking for explosives perhaps hidden in motorcycles.
Thai Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva has halted any future acquisitions of the GT200 bomb scanner after test results performed by the Ministry of Science and Technology showed that out of 20 trials, the device worked effectively only four times, about the same as a coat hanger, in detecting C4 explosives concealed at random.
As security procedures in the southern border provinces go on, the GT200 bomb detector was swapped for chopsticks as security workers carried out their mission at Bang Nak market.
The officials dipped a chopstick into the motorcycle’s gas tank hunting for explosives which may have been hidden inside.
The Bangkok Post reports that Fourth Army Region Commander Lt-Gen Pichet Wisaijorn who oversees safety measures in the southern border regions declared on Wednesday that the GT200 “bomb scanner” is still required in the southern border provinces.
The GT200 is of course just a worthless dowsing rod and can only detect credulousness. The Thai Military bought 500 units at over $30,000 each. Makers claim it runs on static electricity produced by the user and therefore instructs users to stomp their feet up and down which makes the poor soldiers whose lives are at risk look extremely silly.
