Thai customs officials apprehended more than two tons of ivory stored at Bangkok’s main international airport on its way from Dubai to Laos, a Thai customs division report said on Thursday.
The Thai officials, acting on a tip, investigated a transit cargo storehouse at Suvarnabhumi airport on Wednesday evening and discovered 239 elephant tusks, the account said.
The haul, weighing 2,075 kilograms, has a n estimated sale value of 120 million baht (US$3.6 million), it said. No arrests have been made in connection with the seizure.

The load arrived on an Emirates flight from Dubai and had been declared as telecommunications gear. It had been due to be flown on to adjoining Laos.
