Calm but Tense for Thaksin’s Day of Judgement
All Thai peacekeeping units recognize what to do to uphold law and order on Friday when the Supreme Court will give its judgment on the Thaksin Shinawatra assets seizure case and there is not anything to worry about, Defence Minister Prawit Wongsuwan announced on Thursday.
“People should stay calm and wait for the court’s decision,” Gen Prawit said before chairing a conference of the Defense Council.

Gen Prawit said the police had arranged that the armed forces would offer back up in the event of violent behavior. All reaction would be strictly in compliance with the law.

People should acknowledge the judges’ verdict, which will be conveyed in the afternoon, and maintain the government in upholding peace and order, he said.

Mr Suthep also called on the red-shirts who plan to come together in opposition to the government next month to remain within the law. The government would not appeal to any special security actions if the demonstrations remain nonviolent.
