Thai King Returns to Hospital
Thailand’s King Bhumibol Adulyadej for a short time left the hospital where he has been treated for the past five months to make a late-night visit to his palace, an official announced on Sunday.
It was the only time the 82-year-old ruler has left Siriraj Hospital since he was hospitalized Sept. 19 with exhaustion and loss of desire for food.
The official, speaking on condition of anonymity because she was not approved to release information, did not give details as to the nature of the private business.
She said there would be no official statement because the visit was considered as part of the king’s individual affairs. Hospital administrators said they could not make any statement.
