Thaksin’s Troubles on the Double
Thailand’s National Anti-Corruption Commission on Tuesday held a full conference of all nine associates to mull over further legal action against former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra in relation to the verdict of the Supreme Court’s Criminal Division for Holders of Political Positions on Friday.
The court found Thaksin to have caused damage to the nation by favoring his own company Shin Corp before it was sold to Temasek Holdings of Singapore as a result of five measures initiated while he was prime minister.
Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva said on Tuesday he had arranged further studies of the court’s verdict to protect nationwide interests.
While the court confiscated some of Thaksin’s frozen fortune, the seizure verdict did not bring up the damage caused to the state.
The prime minister’s orders prompted the anti-graft agency to hold a conference today to mull over what other legal action could taken against Thaksin.
