Monks to Join Red Shirt Rally
Thailand’s opposition Red-shirt leader Arisman Pongruangrong has asserted that about 20,000 Buddhist monks will join the rally organized by the Democratic Alliance Against Dictatorship next week.
The monks will supply a morale enhancement to the red shirts, he said, and will pray and chant so the protesters can defeat the evil fiend (mara).
They will also remind the police force, armed forces and the administration to be heedful not to harm the red shirts, he also stated.
Arisman said around 5,000 farming families had begun making their drive to Bangkok, with pauses planned in Nakhon Ratchasima and Saraburi.
